Time to Catch up!!

WOW!!!! Where has the last year gone?? I have not posted on this Blog for almost a year - a WHOLE year of things to catch up on?  So here goes my best try.....

2013

January
My Belly was getting bigger by the minute awaiting the birth of our 2nd boy, Cannon Brooks Mazell.  Still had our house listed for sale  ( we were crazy ) and still working very very hard on getting Jackson potty trained.

March
Cannon was born on St. Patrick's Day around 11:45pm  - what a wonderful day!! Here is the fun story behind it all:
--March 15th - worked a full day with no idea of what was going to happen 48-hours later.
--March 16th - Took Jackson to a fun petting zoo event infront of the Citadel Mall - baby chicks, goats, donkey, bunnies, face painting, balloon animals, and his favorite- train ride!!!
--March 17th - D-Day.  Woke up having some contractions - but 11+ minutes apart.  Rusty was off, which was rare -but great!  We did some things around the house and then around 11am, we took Jackson to Money Joes - My contractions were now about 6-mins apart.  I told Rusty at 1:00pm, it was time to go home, that I needed to rest and so did Jackson.  We got home and I laid down and the contractions subsided.  Around 3pm - they came on much stronger and I informed Rusty - It was GO time.  He looked at me and said - " So, does this mean I'm not going to play Hockey tonight??"  I said some choice words, as the contractions were about 5 mins apart by now.  I called Ashley Hancock and asked her to come get Jackson and she was there within SECONDS - Jackson was thrilled to go stay with Ashley and his girlfriend - Lyla!  All day, I had kept my parents ( who are 2.5 hours away) up to speed throughout the day as to what was going on.  At this point it was about 5pm and I called my parents to say- it's time- ya'll come on!!  Well..... they were hosting a huge party with some couples from church, with about 25 pp at their house for dinner.  The group really pulled together and cleaned up for my parents, since they got on the road to Charleston.  Ha!  We got to the hospital around 5:30 and at that point I had not progressed - still at about 2cm dilated.  The nurse said I was to rest and IF I progressed, she would give me an epidural / start potossen to get things moving.  Within the next 2-hours things progressed at a blurry / fast-pace.  My contractions were coming on much much faster - but I was still not dilated enough to be considered true labor.  Once I hit 5cm, the nurse ordered the epidural - the ANES took FOREVER to get there and once he did-  he said- I left something and walked out.  I told the nurse to check me - I was now at 7cm.  At that point, I really wanted to push, but had to try not to, as I was not fully dilated.  Within minutes I was fully dialted, ready to push!!  The doctor was walking in the door as I begin to push.  There was NO time for any drugs, barely time to break the table down and Cannon was born in 15-minutes.  Did you hear that part.....NO DRUGS! Whew! At last - our 2nd bundle of joy was here!!  Needless to say - I did not sleep a wink - I was running off of pure adrenaline!

I was lucky enough to be home with Cannon for the first 10-weeks - Time well spent!!  During this time other parts of our lives begin to move faster.....Our house begin showing 2 and 3 times a week and finally on June 15th - we got a showing from a young couple that within 15-mins of seeing our house -WROTE AN OFFER!

I went back to work on May 28th - so with a firm offer on our house coming in on June 15th - the buyers wanted to close on July 31st - WHEW!  So that meant we had about 1-month to figure out where to buy our next home, etc.  After viewing a Zillion homes - we settled on building a NEW home in Carolina Bay - SO EXCITING.  That also meant, we needed temporary housing while it was being built - so on July 13th we moved in with Rusty's Mom, Chen in West Ashley.  BLESS HER!!!!!

So let's get the run down here - Newborn, selling house, moving house into storage, contract on building new house, moving in with In-laws - all the while, working a full-time job.  So....does it make sense that I got Shingles the beginning of August?? Ha!  Well...not really funny - but funny.

Cannon Brooks Mazell

All the while - Jackson is one AMAZING kid!!  2013 has been a GREAT year for him - his personality is HILARIOUS and as he talks more and more, he is so fun to be with!!  Jackson has said so FUNNY stuff - her are some jewels that I want to remember:

Jackson confused his P's and C's for a LONG time and some words still were wrong.  For example:
When he rides his cowboy horse - he says, Ye-haw Poboy ( instead of Cowboy)
Talking to Cannon  - he said Pannon
One morning, Jackson crawled in the bed with me and asked me if I had eaten poop - guess my morning breath was pretty bad - Ha!
If Jackson wants to do something, he will pitch the idea, then tell me how perfect his idea is- too cute!
When I am angry / scolding Jackson, he will pet my hair and say - Mommy - you're so pretty!!! I love you!
If I tell him something he likes - he says - Mommy, I'm so proud of you!!!!!
He talks about his friends - refering to them as his partners.  ( partners in crime for sure!)

Jackson was finally on the right track to being potty trained when my parents kept him in June - Yeah Jackson! He turned the be 3 on July 9th with a super birthday party at his favorite place - Chuck E. Cheese - fun was had by all!!

Cannon has been a JOY of a baby!!  He had some major reflux issues that started in the first 2-weeks of life - causing a sqeaking noise when he breathed.  We took him to MUSC for a scan to see what was going on -and they confirmed it was awful reflux.  He started on Zirtec twice a day and now he is off of it and doing great! He has been sleeping thru the night since about 8-weeks old! I was able to nurse Cannon for about 12-weeks - which was wonderful!  He started eating solids at 4-months - loving it from the very fist bite!  Cannon rolled over at 5.5 months and now rolls ALL over the place!

4-months check up: 16lbs 11oz 26in long and 16in head
6-months check up: 20lbs 26ins long 18in head

We are still at Chena's house - scheduled to move in the begining of December -CANNOT WAIT!!!

I think that somewhat catches me up for now - whew!

XOXO
